They arrived at the iron gates of the massive estate, standing together before a towering mansion that carried an undeniable, quiet authority.
Nyra stared up at the imposing structure, trying to let the heavy silence and sheer scale of the place sink into her bones.
"This is your home now,"
Adrian said, his voice breaking the stillness.
The word hung in the air, foreign and distant. Before she could find the breath to reply, a deep, metallic echo reverberated through the courtyard as the grand gates slowly swung open.
Waiting on the wide stone steps were Victor, Sebastian, Elena, and Alex, a cohesive unit gathered in silent anticipation.
Adrian gently nudged her forward.
"Walk."She obeyed, putting one foot in front of the other until the distance between them vanished.
"She's Nyra," Adrian announced, his voice steady.
He paused, letting the finality of the next word settle over the quiet courtyard.
"She's my wife."
There was no hostile tension, only an expectant calm.
Victor stepped forward first, his face opening into a warm, genuine smile.
"Nyra," he said softly.
"Sir," she replied, her voice barely a whisper.
Victor offered a gentle, dissenting shake of his head.
"No 'sir.' Call me dad."Nyra froze, the sudden warmth of the word striking a deep, unexpected chord within her.
Her throat tightened, her defenses momentarily disarmed.
"...okay,"
she managed quietly.Looking satisfied, Victor nodded. "Good."
Sebastian moved in next, his hands shoved deep into his pockets and his eyes sparkling with sharp amusement.
He glanced back and forth between Nyra and Adrian.
"So this is the girl. I have been wondering what kind of cosmic miracle had to occur for him to actually get married."
A playful smirk curved his lips. "Tell me, did he threaten you, or did you just feel exceptionally adventurous that day?"
Nyra met his gaze with unyielding, calm composure.
"If I say both?"A beat of silence passed before Sebastian threw his head back and laughed, a loud, echoing sound.
"I knew it!"
he declared, pointing a finger at Adrian. "No one agrees to marry him without a severe element of risk involved."
He leaned in closer, dropping his voice into a conspiratorial tone.
"But seriously, how did you manage to tolerate him long enough to actually say yes?"
Nyra didn't even bother looking at her new husband.
"I'm still trying to figure that out."
Sebastian chuckled again, shaking his head.
"Oh, this is going to be wonderful."
Elena stepped forward next, moving with effortless grace. Her eyes softened the instant they found Nyra.
"Come here, child,"
she murmured. When Nyra stepped closer, Elena pulled her into a warm, utterly comforting embrace.
It felt soft, safe, and disturbingly familiar, causing the rigid posture in Nyra's shoulders to slowly melt away.
"It's good to finally meet you," Elena whispered against her hair."...it's nice to meet you too," Nyra replied,
the defensive shell around her heart cracking just a little more.Adrian's voice broke the brief intimacy.
"Mom." It was that tone again—respectful, softer, completely transformed from the man the corporate world knew.
Alex couldn't contain his excitement any longer, bouncing forward on his heels.
"So you're really her? The one big bro actually married?"
Nyra blinked at the youthful energy. "...yes?"
Alex grinned widely. "You don't look scary at all. That's a huge plus."
A faint, rare ghost of a smile touched the corners of Nyra's mouth.
"I like you already,"
the boy added happily.Victor observed the exchange with quiet contentment before steering the conversation forward.
"You will stay here with us in the mansion. It will be much better that way."
Before Nyra could process the invitation, Adrian intervened.
"No."
The refusal was calm, absolute, and unyielding.Every head snapped toward him.
"She's staying here for two days,"
Adrian specified, his tone leaving no room for argument. "Just to get familiar with the surroundings. After that, we'll live separately."
Sebastian raised an eyebrow, a teasing glint returning to his eyes.
"Already running away from domestic family life, or are you just trying to protect her from yourself?"
Adrian ignored the jab completely.
"We'll be staying at my penthouse."
Victor studied his son for a long, calculating moment before giving a slow nod.
"As you wish."
Elena didn't press the matter further, offering a gentle smile.
"If that is what feels comfortable for both of you."
Alex leaned sideways toward Nyra, whispering loudly, "Two days is far too short. I literally just met you."
This time, Nyra actually smiled, a genuine, soft expression breaking across her face. Before anyone could speak again, a casual voice drifted from the driveway.
"Well, this looks suspiciously like a full family gathering."
They all turned to see Felix walking up leisurely, hands tucked into his pockets, his sharp gaze shifting from Adrian to Nyra.
" Looks like everyone like the new family member here"
he remarked, a faint, familiar smirk playing on his features as Nyra recognized him from the office , she literally didn't noticed him all the time.
Felix offered a polite, casual nod.
"I honestly didn't think you would survive working under him long enough to make it to his house."
Sebastian let out a low chuckle. "See? Even Felix agrees with me."
Felix shrugged unbothered.
"I'm just a man of honesty."
Adrian's voice cut through the air like a blade. "Felix." It was a subtle, dangerous warning.
Felix casually raised his hands in a mock surrender.
"Relax. I like her already."
Nyra remained silent, but a profound realization settled over her.
For the first time in her life, standing amidst these strange, intimidating people, she wasn't being looked at as an outsider.
Not really
Adrian's hand shifted, resting lightly and possessively against the small of her back, pulling her just a fraction closer.
It was a quiet, undeniable claim.
Victor stepped aside, gesturing toward the grand entrance.
"Come in."
The heavy double doors behind them swung wide open, looking vast and inviting.
Nyra looked ahead at the threshold, took a deep breath, and stepped forward.
And this time, it didn't feel like she was walking blindly into the unknown. It felt like she was stepping into a place that had somehow been waiting for her all along.
