At the dining table,
her husband , adrian stood up, pushing his chair back with a sharp, metallic scrape that echoed too loudly in the quiet room.
"Be on time today," he said, his voice flat, devoid of the warmth most people carry into the morning.
Nyra looked up, her brow furrowing. "For what?"
His gaze dropped to her.
For a fraction of a second, a cold, teasing glint flickered in his dark eyes—the kind of look a predator gives its prey just before the chase begins.
"Your weekend is over," he said calmly, leaning slightly forward.
"Time to get back to work."
Nyra blinked, the sudden transition catching in her throat. "…What?"
A faint, mocking smirk touched his lips. "Don't tell me you expected mercy, little flame. That would be… dangerously generous of me."
Nyra stared at him, her chest tightening with a mix of disbelief and rising frustration.
"Unbelievable."
Before she could form a coherent argument, he turned on his heel.
He walked away without a backward glance, leaving her stranded in the heavy silence of the dining room. Speechless. Foolish.
"You are impossible," she muttered to the empty space, throwing her chair back.
She rushed to their room, her hands trembling slightly as she forced herself into her corporate armour, racing against a clock he had intentionally set against her.
By the time she stepped through the heavy glass doors of the office, the digital clock on the wall confirmed her fears.
She was late.
Not by an eternity, but enough for a man who measured life in absolute control. He noticed the exact second she walked in.
He didn't look up from his tablet, but his voice cut through the room.
"Late."Nyra exhaled, refusing to let him see her panting. "Traffic."
"And?"
"And you," she countered sharply, crossing her arms.
The room grew still.
He slowly leaned back in his leather chair, the leather groaning under his weight.
He looked at her, his eyes carrying a dark, amused glint that made her skin prickle. "Excuses already? Impressive. I expected a fight, not a surrender to circumstance."
Nyra glared, her fingers curling into her palms.
"I’m not—"
"Sit," he commanded, his voice dropping into that smooth, unyielding tone that brooked no defiance. "Work first. Arguments later."
Nyra swallowed her retort, a heavy knot of resentment forming in her stomach as she slid into her seat.
For hours, the silence between them was purely professional.
The paperwork piled up like a wall separating them, and for a fleeting moment, the suffocating atmosphere bled into something resembling normalcy.
Until the door burst open.
Felix stepped inside, his movements fast, his posture rigid with a frantic, uncharacteristic anxiety.
Something was deeply wrong.
His eyes snapped up instantly. "What is it?"
Felix didn't answer immediately. His eyes flicked to Nyra, a flash of hesitation crossing his face, before he locked eyes back with the man behind the desk.
"They’re calling you."The air in the room turned to ice. His expression didn't change—not a single muscle twitched—but something predatory and bleak settled deep behind his eyes.
"When?" he asked.
"Now."A suffocating silence descended.
"I’ll go,"
he said, standing up with a deliberate, lethal grace.
"No," Felix intercepted quickly, taking a half-step forward. "You shouldn't go alone. Not after—"
He looked at Felix.
Just one look.
A cold, silent promise of violence that stripped the words straight from Felix's throat.
Felix dropped his gaze, his jaw tight. "…Fine," he muttered.
Then, his voice dropped an octave, delivering the final blow. "And Sera is back."
That name made his composure fracture.
It was subtle—a slight tightening of his jaw, a dark flash of raw irritation that vanished as quickly as it appeared."Handle it,"
he said flatly, his voice dripping with venom. "And keep her away from me. For now."
Felix nodded, his eyes shifting back to the corner of the room. "And Nyra—?"
"She doesn’t need to know,"
he cut him off, his voice cutting through the air like a blade.
Nyra sat perfectly still, the words washing over her. She felt the sudden, crushing weight of their secrets pressing against her chest, but she chose survival over curiosity. She said nothing.
_
Evening came, bleeding into a pitch-black night.
Nyra unlocked the door to the penthouse around 8 PM.
The space was vast, empty, and dripping with an oppressive quiet.
"He hasn’t come back?"
she asked a passing maid, her voice sounding small in the cavernous hallway.
The maid shook her head, keeping her eyes glued to the floor.
"No, ma'am."
Nyra frowned, a cold dread pooling in her stomach.
Something felt off.
The silence wasn't peaceful; it felt like the breath the world takes before a storm breaks.Hours bled into one another.
10 PM.
11 PM.
Midnight.
Nyra sat on the edge of the mattress, wide awake, the covers untouched beside her.
She was waiting.
It infuriated her to admit it, but her eyes kept tracking the dark shadows of the bedroom door, her pulse erratic.
Suddenly, the front door didn't just open—it slammed against the wall with a deafening crack that reverberated through the entire penthouse.
Nyra bolted to her feet, her heart leaping into her throat.
Heavy, erratic footsteps stormed down the hallway.
When the bedroom door swung open, he stood on the threshold, and the sheer force of his fury hit her like a physical blow.
He was completely soaked, rainwater streaming down his face and dripping from his dark hair, but his skin was flushed with a terrifying, white-hot rage.
His chest heaved violently, and his eyes were wide, feral, and bloodshot.
He didn't just look hurt; he looked unhinged.
His knuckles were split to the bone, leaking fresh blood that mixed with the water pooling at his feet, and a jagged cut on his lip was weeping crimson.
Before Nyra could even utter a word, his gaze locked onto her, and a dark roar tore from his throat.
With a swift, violent sweep of his arm, he backhanded a heavy crystal vase resting on the entryway table.
It shattered against the hardwood floor into a thousand glittering shards.
The violent, explosive sound made Nyra gasp, taking a defensive step back.
"Are you insane?!"
Nyra yelled, the terror instantly mutating into her own defensive anger.
"What is wrong with you?! Look at yourself—you're bleeding, you're breaking things—"
"Shut up!" he barked, his voice raw and thunderous, cracking with a dangerous volatility.
He kicked a fallen piece of debris out of his path, marching straight toward her like a force of nature.
"Don't you dare look at me with judgment in your eyes!"
"I am looking at a madman!"
Nyra shot back, refusing to back down even as the space between them vanished.
"You disappear for hours, you come back looking like you butchered someone, and you attack my home?!"
"Your home?!" he laughed, a harsh, humorless, and terrifying sound that died instantly as his face contorted in fury.
"Everything you have is mine! YOU ARE MINE!"
In a flash of terrifying speed, he closed the remaining distance. His bloody hand shot out, wrapping around her forearm, and with a brutal pull, he slammed her back against the nearest wall.
The impact knocked the wind right out of her lungs.
He pinned her there, throwing his entire body weight against her, his forearms locking her shoulders against the drywall so tightly she could feel the frantic, booming rhythm of his chest hammering against her own.
"Let go of me!"
she hissed, twisting under his vice-like grip. "You're psychotic!"
"What were you doing at that café today?" he growled, his face inches from hers, his breath hot, heavy, and smelling of copper and rain.
His jaw was clenched so hard the muscles in his neck looked ready to snap.
"Who the hell was he?!"
Nyra's eyes widened as the realization hit her, fuel dumping directly onto her own fire.
"Are you serious right now?! You tracked me? You spied on me?!"
"Answer me!" he roared, shaking her slightly against the wall. The raw power in his voice vibrated right through her spine.
"You hugged him! I saw the way you smiled at him—the way you let his hands touch you! You looked happy. Free. Like you didn't belong to a monster!"
"He is my friend!"
Nyra screamed back, her vision blurring with hot tears of anger. "He’s a coworker from my past! I haven't seen him in months, and it was a harmless greeting! You don't get to control who I speak to! You don't own the breath in my lungs!"
"I OWN every goddamn part of you!"
he hissed, his eyes blackening into a fathomless, predatory abyss.
"If I ever see another man lay a hand on you like that again, I will tear him apart piece by piece. Do you understand me? I will END him!"
The absolute malice in his voice sent a shiver of pure ice down her spine.
He was spinning entirely out of control, the beast completely overtaking the man.
She could feel his hands trembling against her skin—not from weakness, but from a desperate, violent restraint that was rapidly disintegrating.
She needed to stop him.
She needed to break the fever before he destroyed them both.
Forgetting her anger, forgetting her pride, she forced her trapped hands to go limp.
She stopped fighting the wall.
She looked directly past the terrifying mask of his rage, straight into the chaotic, broken depths of his eyes.
"ADRIAN, please!! calm down.... control your anger.."
she breathed out.
The name slipped from her lips like a quiet plea, a soft strike of lightning in the middle of a hurricane.
Adrian froze.
It was instantaneous.
Every muscle in his towering frame locked.
The terrifying pressure pinning her against the wall ceased to advance, suspending him in absolute animation.
The furious, erratic rising and falling of his chest hitched, catching violently in his throat.
The name—spoken by her, to him, for the very first time—acted like a physical anchor, dragging him out of the abyss.
The unhinged, feral glint in his eyes cracked, replaced by a sudden, jarring focus.
The silence that followed was suffocating, heavy with the weight of a man staring at his own undoing.
"…Say it again," Adrian whispered, his voice suddenly losing its thunder, dropping into a gravelly, dangerously low register that trembled with an unsettling obsession.
" Ww...hh..at..!!"
"Say it again....my name!!!"
"Y..ooo...uu..ok....what you are...sayi..."nyra stutter don't know what happened to him suddenly.
"PLEASE!! SAY IT AGAIN..MY NAME.....SAY IT ". adrian plea to her controlling himself from breaking.....
Nyra swallowed hard, the sheer proximity of his damp body heat branding her through her clothes, but she didn't blink.
She holds his gaze.
"ADRIAN."
He let out a slow, fractured breath, his head dropping slightly until his forehead already rested against hers.
The bloody fingers wrapped around her wrist didn't loosen, but the violent tension shifted into something much deeper, darker, and entirely consuming.
"Again," he commanded, a breathless, desperate demand.
"ADRIAN," she whispered a third time, her voice losing its edge completely, vibrating softly against his lips.
That was the absolute breaking point.
Adrian inhaled sharply, a slow, tortured expansion of his lungs as if he were drinking in the very essence of her submission.
The restraint he had spent a lifetime building finally snapped.
"You can scream at me," he murmured, his voice darker than the storm raging outside, heavy with a toxic, unyielding possession.
"You can hate me. You can curse my soul to hell and call me a monster, little flame…"
He paused, his eyes burning into hers with a feral, unholy light that made her heart hammer against her ribs like a trapped bird.
"But the next time another man gets that close to you," he continued, his tone dropping into a registry that felt like an absolute death sentence,
"I will bury him. Do you understand me? It will not be good for him."
Nyra’s chest rose and fell in rapid, shallow gasps. "You don't get to decide that,"
she breathed, her lips brushing his as she spoke, a reckless challenge sparking in her eyes.
Adrian moved.
Fast.
Before she could register the shift, his hand tangled in her hair, tilting her head back while his other hand caught her wrist, pulling her forward off the wall.
"You really want to test my limits?"
he murmured against her skin.
She didn't look away.
She stared directly into the darkness of his soul.
And that look was his absolute undoing. In one violent, sharp motion,
he pulled her flush against his chest and slammed his lips onto hers.
A jolt of absolute shock ripped through Nyra's entire system. Her eyes went wide, staring at the ceiling as the sheer, bruising impact of his mouth cut off her breath.
This wasn't a confession—it was a dynamic invasion of her space, a heavy, desperate claim of dominance.
The metallic taste of rain and the warm, copper tang of blood from his split lip flooded her senses, sharp and overwhelming.Panic flared in her chest, blinding and raw.
No
Not like this
Her hands instantly came up, flattening against his damp, rock-solid chest.
She pushed with everything she had, her muscles straining, digging her fingers into the wet fabric of his shirt to force some distance between them.
She twisted her head, trying to wrench her mouth away from his suffocating grip, her small frame desperate to break the suffocating hold.
But she failed
Completely
Adrian didn't budge. He felt like solid marble against her frantic movements
Her struggles only seemed to fuel the darkness inside him; his hand tangled deeper into her hair, his fingers anchoring her skull with ruthless precision so she couldn't move an inch.
He shifted his weight, pressing her even harder against the wall until the air was entirely driven from her lungs, his lips crushing hers with a desperate, primitive hunger that utterly consumed her protests.
She was completely trapped, drowning in the terrifying heat of his obsession, her strength entirely useless against his unyielding force. It lasted only a chaotic, electric moment before he tore himself away.
Immediately.
He backed up a step, his chest heaving, looking at her as if he had just crossed a boundary even he hadn't prepared for.
Silence fell over the room like ash, broken only by the sound of dripping rainwater and their ragged breaths.
Nyra stood frozen against the wall, her thoughts scattered to the wind, her lips burning, swollen, and wet.
Her heartbeat was completely out of control.
Adrian stepped back further, running a trembling, blood-stained hand through his damp hair.
When he looked at her again, the mask was back.
He was composed.
Controlled
The cold executive once more
But his voice still carried the dark, jagged edge of the monster underneath.
"…Don't push me like that again."
Nyra didn't reply
For the first time since she had met him, she was utterly silent.
Because as she looked at him standing in the shadows of the room, she realized she didn't know what terrifying game she had just started.
Or how many people would have to bleed before it ended.
" TO BE CONTINUED "
